Frequently asked

How is the recovered ID calculated?

Divide the pre-shrink ID by the ratio: at 2:1, a 3.00 mm pre-shrink ID recovers to roughly 1.50 mm. Actual values depend on heating and the underlying structure, so sample validation is recommended.

Which materials offer a 2:1 ratio?

Among published specs, FEP/S-FEP, PE and PEBAX are 2:1. PEEK is 1.4:1 and PET is 1.5:1. PTFE, PFA and PVDF ratios are not published.

Which material gives the thinnest wall?

PET, from 0.006 mm pre-shrink wall — the thinnest among published specs. Its 1.5:1 ratio limits large recoveries, however.

Do you supply PTFE heat shrink?

Yes. PTFE heat shrink is supplied, typically as a high-temperature insulating layer over instrument shafts. Dimensions and ratio are not published, so we confirm your specification with the plant. The same applies to PFA and PVDF.
