Moulded in a Class 10,000 cleanroom — lower cost while meeting implant regulation
Modulus close to bone — PEEK about 3.8 GPa (cancellous 3.2–7.8 GPa, cortical 17–20 GPa)
Transparent to X-rays, so it does not appear on CT or MRI
Sterilisation resistance is good — properties hold through prolonged steam, EtO and gamma exposure
250 ℃ continuous, 300 ℃ instantaneous

Raw material
High-purity PEEK pellets above 99.5% keep moulded properties stable
Mould design
Gate, runner and cooling are designed around PEEK's low flow. Mould temperature 120–150 °C
Machine selection
A high-temperature machine with tight temperature and pressure control. Melt 350–400 °C, pressure 100–150 MPa
Process parameters
Temperature, pressure, speed and cooling are tuned per material and part. Cooling 20–40 s
Post-processing
Annealing and machining relieve internal stress and tighten dimensions. Anneal 150–200 °C for 1–2 h

Application

Applications

Biocompatibility and chemical resistance suit it to joint prostheses, spinal implants and surgical instruments. More than half the world's spinal implants are made of PEEK today.
